Wendy Kesey is an artist residing in Salem, Oregon. She works predominately with
acrylic paints and glazes and texture medium on canvases that she has custom
built. She favors the subject matter of figures, still life and landscape
evoking a romantic mood reflecting life in the northwest.
Kesey is a
full time artist and designer who continues to explore artistic mediums and
methods. She calls it “playing” and says, “I love color and texture and things that I think are beautiful. I try to achieve a “feeling” in my work, but
also to draw people in to examine the process…wondering what I did to achieve
that effect.”
Kesey says
that she has had a love of art for as long as she can remember. Her passion was
nourished growing up in the artistic Kesey family here in the Northwest. Surrounded
by writers, musicians, painters and sculptures, art felt natural to Kesey. But it
was a mural that she painted above my daughter’s crib that made painting a
career for her.
Today she paints
and sells original art work and runs a design business specializing in murals,
faux finishes, Venetian plaster, and murals. She is frequently commissioned to
paint custom art work as well.
Kesey
says, “Over the past nineteen years I’ve been lucky enough to work alongside my
sister, brother, my best friend and even my kids! I feel so lucky to have a job
I so passionately love!”
Kesey has
exhibited in numerous shows and displays her work in local businesses. Her work
adorns many residential and commercial buildings in the States, Hawaiian
Islands and Mexico.
